All 3 layers are encased in a luxurious zippered cover tailored to perfection. Mattress finishes approximately 8 1/2" including luxury cotton damask cover quilted to wool. There are three layers of 100% latex in the Select Sleep 8,500. Two 2.8" layers and one 1.4" layer which is soft 22-24 ILD. You select the firmness of each of the two 2.8" layers .Your choices are soft (22-24 ILD), medium (30-32 ILD), firm (38-40 ILD), extra firm (44 ILD) Quilted cover plus 7" latex gives you a finished mattress of approximately 8.5 " high.
